By Editorial StaffThis month's hero has set an outstanding example for all those who know that speed limits and other laws of the road are only for the common folk and do not apply to those who were once married to someone who formerly wielded much power. That's right: This month, we're honoring the former wife of the former governor of the great state of Louisiana, Candy Edwards.
It all started when Candy was driving through Port Barre on Hwy. 190 at 63 mph in a 45-mph zone, when suddenly a renegade patrolman pulled her over. When this out-of-control cop discovered that the former first lady of Louisiana was driving with a suspended license, he attempted to search her. Edwards rightly refused and told the dirty cop she was not going to be arrested.
We say, "You go, girl!" And she did just that. When the cop tried to handcuff her, Edwards just walked away. Eventually, the brute captured Ms. Edwards, handcuffed her, and placed her in the back of his patrol car. Imagine the nerve of this a–hole to arrest sweet little Candy! What is this world coming to?
While in the cruiser, poor Candy tried to alert the outside world of her horrible ordeal by using her cell phone. That's when that maniac in a uniform took the phone away from her. Candy immediately told the prick with a piece "that she'd sue him and have his job." Spoken like a true Edwards. EWE must be beaming in his cell.
It's completely incomprehensible why they arrested her. After all, she's sped through Port Barre before. When another idiot pulled her over, though, the mayor let her off. Well, at least someone over there has some sense.
After being released from jail, where she was unjustly booked with speeding, driving under suspension, resisting an officer, public intimidation of a public official, and interfering with an officer, Candy emerged with undaunted spirits. Like a true fighter, she proudly proclaimed, "I am not a criminal." Both Richard Nixon and Zsa Zsa Gabor would be proud.
So ladies, if you're ever terrorized by a malfeasant officer, and you happen to be the former wife of a convicted four-time governor, draw inspiration from Candy Edwards' courageous actions. Be brave, and tell that pig, "Do you know who I used to be?"
